Purpose:
This supplement provides rules and guidelines for the design and construction and placement of freestanding flagpoles for the sole purpose of displaying the U.S. Flag within the River Watch community. All flagpole requests must be submitted and approved by the ACC.
Any fiberglass, aluminum or galvanized pole designed for the purpose of flying a flag maybe erected on a homeowners lot with the following limitations:
Flagpole height should be a minimum of 15 feet and shall not exceed 25 feet in height, or the height of the primary structure on the parcel, whichever is less. The diameter may not exceed 3”. Placement of the flag must be in the front of the house on any lot not to exceed beyond ten feet from the front wall of the house. Placement must also be made so that the pole will not strike any neighboring homes or property in the event that it falls.
Flag material permitted would be made from nylon, super knit polyester or sewn polyester. Flag size cannot exceed 3’ X 5’. No flag other than the United States Flag will be permitted.
All rules for proper etiquette for flying the U.S.Flag will apply.
Flags displaying a logo, message, statement, or expression relating to commercial interests and banners not meeting the definition of a flag contained herein shall conform to all applicable ordinances pertaining to signs as outlined in Article VI, Section 11 of the Covenants.
Banners
Banners shall be exempt from the permitting requirements provided that they are either solely decorative or are non-commercial and do not display a logo, message, statement, or expression relating to commercial interests. Banners, which display a message, logo, statement, or expression relating to commercial interests, shall be regulated as signs as provided in Article VI, Section 11 of the Covenants.
Banners shall conform to the following standards:
Each banner shall not exceed 15 square feet. Each banner must be individually attached to a pole or mast arm which will be secured to the front side of the home.
